SMART. EASY. COOL.

HYDROCHILL®

Southwest Greens of Atlanta is proud to supply and install synthetic turf that saves Atlanta families and businesses time and money —giving you the ability to pay attention to the things that matter most. By implementing our advanced HydroChill® cooling technology, we have combatted summertime heat in a smart and simple way. A simple addition to the turf’s infill creates a typical cooling range of 30-50 degrees and works automatically when hydrated by irrigation, rainfall, and dew.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

EVAPORATIVE COOLING TECHNOLOGY

Perspiration is an ordinary means of thermoregulation called evaporative cooling. Evaporation of moisture from the skin’s surface has a cooling effect. In the same way, HydroChill® has proven to cool artificial green surfaces through the same scientific method. As the turf surface is warmed by solar radiation, moisture kept in the HydroChill® turf is let go. Evaporating moisture gets rid of heat, leaving a cooler, more pleasant surface for the players.

  • HydroChill® uses moisture to provide a cooling effect. Rainfall, dew, and irrigation should help keep your lawn cool for days, subject to local conditions.
  • HydroChill® can be integrated into most of Southwest Greens' infilled lawn systems.
  • HydroChill® will not hinder the stability or warranty of Southwest Greens’ products.
  • HydroChill® is UV-resistant and must be re-treated every two years for the best performance.

WHEN IS IT MOST EFFECTIVE?

The temperature outside doesn’t necessarily dictate surface temperature. Other elements contribute to an object’s surface temperature, like cloud cover, wind, the sun’s angle, and other elements.

HydroChill® provides maximum benefit when the sun is closer to the Earth, as shown in the solar radiation calendar. During the summer in Atlanta, the sun rests overhead, causing surfaces to absorb more heat, resulting in warmer temperatures. The Earth’s spin is also responsible for hourly variations in light therefore making HydroChill® most effective during the hotter hours of a clear day when it’s most necessary.
